Have your say on proposed new homes for Faringdon

Bloor Homes

Welcome to the Park Road proposals consultation website

Bloor Homes is bringing forward a revised housing scheme on land south of Park Road, Faringdon.

The new scheme will provide a high quality residential development for up to 425 new homes, a primary school, children’s play space (equipped and natural play), community forest, allotments and an orchard, a sustainable drainage system and new access from Park Road.

Your views on the project are important to us and we will consider them as we finalise the proposals for the submission of the planning application. We would therefore be very grateful if you could take the time to complete our feedback form.

The application site

The site is located on the southern edge of Faringdon, south of Park Road as shown on the plan to the right.

The site has been allocated by the Vale of White Horse District Council for residential development in the Local Plan 2031, and is also acknowledged in the Faringdon Neighbourhood Plan to be brought forward for development.

In 2013 Bloor Homes undertook consultation on a housing development for the site and the scheme was recommended for unanimous approval at Planning Committee in 2015. Bloor Homes have looked again at their plans and are applying for planning permission for an alternative proposal.

Our proposals

The proposals will bring a high quality development with the potential to include affordable housing to meet local needs. Our initial concept masterplan includes the following features:

  • Residential development sensitively designed in the context of the local landscape features and surrounding properties
  • A mix of tenure and house types including affordable and open market. Consideration is also being given to providing accommodation for elderly care
  • New public open space including a community forest, allotments and an orchard for existing and future residents, complemented by landscaping and ecological improvements

  • A sustainable drainage system and improved surface water run off to and from the site

The downloadable exhibition boards provide more detail on our proposals.
